Christian Louboutin jacks up the artistic edge of their Fall 2011 lookbook with an assemblage of photos that reenacts iconic figures from Renaissance paintings. Be it sitting atop a luscious fruit platter or held reverently by James McNeill Whistler’s mother, Louboutin’s edgy heels – and bags – are on full display behind the photographic lens of Peter Lippman. Besides heralding the theme of ‘the power of femininity’, the shoot has another more straightforward message – that Louboutin’s creations fit comfortably within the world of art. Read More

Kim Jones has revealed his first series of menswear designs for legendary French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton. Taking a more sportswear-oriented direction for Spring, the collection forayed away from the requisite tailored suits and sumptuous, basic knitwear that the brand is so well-known for although they were, of course, also included. A wide array of garments were on display in the show – from varsity jackets and polo shirts emblazoned with the Louis Vuitton Cup yachting competition logo to tightly-knotted bandanas, a brightly-colored take on their Damier pattern in the form of tasseled scarves and shorts, khaki outerwear and an Alligator bomber jacket complete with knit navy sleeves. The stern-faced models also carried some new, military-inspired bags in army green. Available in the fall, the Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 collection may not have been as adventurous as some other runway shows this season, but it certainly showcased an impressive range of high-fashion offerings.
